Everything must go…

We are making a lot of progress with emptying out the house. Utilizing Ebay, Etsy, and Craigslist.  Please let me know if you have any questions on getting started with selling your stuff. So far, my experience has been very positive.

  1. Just saw your blond stranger (lol) ebay stuff. Wow, you guys are really selling out! Good for you. I tried it once but the shipping was a deal killer, especially for bigger objects. I wouldn’t mind hearing on your procedures.

    • My procedure is to leave it to my Bride. 😉

She does spend a lot of time doing this. She picks a couple of items, cleans them up, takes some photos and then usually lists them on both eBay and Craig’s List. She measures and weighs the items to estimate shipping and with a few exceptions she has gotten it right maybe a slight over estimate if anything.

The pain in the ass part for me is going to the post office. Even though she does all of the postage online, I need the post office to be open to drop it off because the boxes generally don’t fit in the small drop slots they have. I usually have to either wait for 20-30 minutes for the post office to open on my way to work or make an intentional trip out to the post office.

She added it up last night and so far we have added just under $2,000 to our cruising kitty from selling stuff. So it appears to be worth it to me. We just gained another 2 months or so of cruising off of the stuff we can’t take with us anyways.

      • Excellent results!! Bravo!
Personally I have to first buy a box and padding for the object, then go to the post office to have it weighed and get the shipping estimates for various countries, then ebay it and then back to the post office to send it off. A royal pain in the butt and not worth the hassle if it less than 30 or so dollars.
        Thanks and happy selling4sailing!
