Bahamas Chapter 10: Long Island

Long Island, Bahamas marks the last Chapter in our journey through the Bahamas.  We stopped at two different anchorages, and stayed a little over a week.  We rented a car with friends and checked out the island including:  Dean’s Blue Hole and some caves.  This island was devastated by Hurricane Joaquin (Category 4 hurricane that hit in October 2015) and is still recovering.

We absolutely loved the Bahamas and would like to eventually go back, but our current plan is to continue to head south.  Turks & Caicos here we come!

  1. I could do without those creepy crawlies in the cave 😦 That’s a really cute picture of you guys on the cliff. Looking forward to seeing your snaps from the Turks & Caicos.

    • Thanks!

But we didn’t really get to see a lot of Turks and Caicos. We could only stay a week or we would have to pay $300 for a 3 month cruising permit. Plus we wanted to get a move on south. We are in Luperon, Dominican Republic now. Probably leaving for Puerto Rico tomorrow.

  2. Ok, so I guess your really not coming back any time soon…..is that a foo-manchu the Jess is sporting?

    • haha, no foo-manchu. I can’t grow facial hair. But I haven’t cut my hair in 6 months. Getting too long. I was going to shave it off today but the generator ran out of gas and I didn’t feel like restarting it. Maybe next week.

  3. Awwwwww!!! Bess and Billy’s Beach Bar. Many, many happy memories for us there! Looks like you had a ball and hopefully grabbed a conch salad at Max’s! THE best.

  4. Love the pic of you at the Blue Hole and snorkeling together :). Glad you made it there before heading south. Safe journey, love reading about it. Miss you guys!
